Autumn Playlist
Alas, we’re past the strange part of Fall where global warming robs us of peak sweater weather. Cigarettes just hitting so much better too.
Our unwanted opinions about the songs in this playlist
One Hundred Years – The Cure
Apply your eyeliner, lace up your boots and throw on your trenchcoat- it’s getting goth in here. It’s not a phase, its a lifestyle. A big fuck you to people who only enjoy The Cure for their pop songs. Pornography is their best album, debate a wall. Sorry for the hostility this song kinda psyches me out.
In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator) - David Lynch & Alan R. Splet
I bring a sort of schizo adjacent vibe to the playlist that the guys don’t really like. However, my life is like a David Lynch movie fr: Discombobulated, dreamlike, and deeply unsettling. I find a strange comfort in that though. I also find a strange comfort in getting absurdly high and bundling myself up like the Eraserhead baby. Different strokes for different folks though, right? Right???
Automatic Stop - The Strokes
I’ve never heard a song that captures the distinct vibe of pissing behind a car on Avenue A during a crispy fall night quite like this one does. I’m sure Julian would agree with me.
Ghosts - Current Joys
Seasonal depression.
Eight - Dean Blunt
I imagine that this is the type of bliss you could have only found in an opium den circa 1903. I’ve managed to find it on a Dean Blunt album.
Pack yr Romantic Mind - Sterolab
walking through the village. in the search for a leaf to satisfyingly crunch into oblivion.
Noid - Tyler the creator
walking with hoodie hood on, maybe even a hat below that hood. west Hollywood solider. headed to the chateau for a midmorning martini. valet park $20 fee, no sweat. California, fall, angst
Darling I Need Time but Don’t Really Know Why - The Buttertones
Bad day to be airpods on a cold night’s walk home
Where are the Keys??? - Blue Hawaii
The sound of this song scratches such an itch. it goes hard in the slow morning and I could turn up to it at the club.
Your Name - Bernache
God bless this french Canadian.
Mind Your Own Business - Automatic
Indie music was invented for this season in particular. a song like this just doesn’t hit as hard unless it's Post time change and its dark at 5pm.
What you Were - The Drums
one of the best songs albums ever made. To this day I am still baffled this came out 13 years ago. it still captures the vibe perfectly. play this song if you fear something big is going to happen. soundtrack it to a pivotal moment.
