Musical Moodboard - January

For some it’s a clean slate; a chance to calibrate your identity and decide what version of yourself you want to present to the world this year. For others it’s an extension of the same cold, dreary winter December brought; a never ending back and forth between short days and long nights with no end in sight. Even for those who look at life with their glass half full, January still requires a stronger strain of will from the human spirit than most other months. Everything about it is a hustle. Your daily tasks suddenly hold a greater sense of weight and anguish (thanks to the blistering cold), and you’re a lot more tired than you were 3 months ago.

However, with this quiet march forward en route to milder months comes a rare moment of solitude. Society slows down a little bit, gentle snowfall suppresses the usual bustle of everyday life (don’t confuse that with the hustle), and you suddenly have a lot more time on your hands without much to distract you or entice you from. It’s a real test of cerebral might, especially when floors are coldest and sheets are coziest. In the year of 2025 though, humanity can’t afford to hit snooze. Tensions are rising, thoughts are changing, fires are blazing, and hell, David Lynch is dead. We can’t lay around and wait for the sunshine to come back while the world is already illuminated by the flames of all that is unjust. Change is creeping up on the horizon line and ultimately, it starts within the deepest depths of both our consciousness and our souls. While the rest world of the world is dreaming, wake up and move with a vision. Life will move forward, with or without you, for better or for worse.

Whether this January brings you closer to heaven on Earth or you feel that is hell finally freezing over, this musical moodboard combines all the elements that we feel represent the month of the Sea-Goat and the Water-Bearer.

Peace and luv, XOXO the radio
